ESOS: Should I include installations that generate energy, e.g. CHP?

Large installations generating or using energy should be included in your total energy consumption calculation. In a CHP or other power generation process, only the incoming fuel and mains electricity need to be included in the calculation of your total energy consumption for the purpose of ESOS. You don’t need to include the heat created and used and electricity created and used by your organisation in the calculation however you will need to audit these if you choose to include the input fuel in your significant energy consumption.
