ESOS: Environment Agency shares details of latest fines issued for non-compliance
The Environment Agency has updated its list of companies fined for failing to comply with phase 1 of the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS).
The latest penalties issued total £27,850, according to the latest data. Since enforcement began, the amount of fines issued total almost £160,000.
ESOS is a mandatory energy assessment scheme for large organisations in the UK that meet the qualification criteria. Organisations must carry out audits of their energy use to identify cost-effective energy saving measures.
Companies named
The largest penalty issued this month went to personal injury law firm Thompsons Solicitors LLP, which was fined £13,500 for ‘failure to comply with an enforcement notice, contrary to Regulation 46(1) of the Energy Saving Opportunities Regulations 2014’. Gainford Care Homes received the next largest fine, at £12,000. Arbinet Thexchange Limited and Launchrandom Limited both received much smaller fines of £1,000 and £1,350 respectively.
ESOS is currently in Phase 2 and the deadline for compliance is 5th December 2019.
