How long is an EII exemption certificate valid for?
If I am successful in obtaining a certificate, how long is it valid for?
Certificates will generally last for a year. New certificates for all businesses except those trading for four financial quarters or less, will come into force on the day they are issued and will usually last for the rest of the financial year (unless they have been issued within 6 months of the end of the financial year, in which case they will last until the end of the next financial year).
Certificates for new businesses, (those trading for four financial quarters or less) will last for 16 months after the first date of the relevant period that was used for the application.
All businesses will need to re-apply for Exemption annually, but in practice, businesses who have presented three or more years of annual accounts will only be reviewed prior to the 6th potential EII certificate.
