With six months to go until the next ESOS deadline, the Environment Agency has published a template to help organisations complete their first Progress Update.
This is a new requirement of ESOS and follows on from submission of mandatory Action Plans in March this year.
What is an ESOS Progress Update?
The first Progress Update is due by 5th December 2025 and asks organisations to provide an estimate of the energy savings that have been (or will be) achieved since they submitted their Action Plans. These can relate to measures in the Action Plan, or new measures.
Progress Update 2 is due by 5th December 2026 and covers the 12-month period between December 2025 and December 2026.
MESOS portal opens mid-June
The submission process will be handled through the MESOS reporting platform, which is due to go live in mid-June.
While the template is optional and cannot be uploaded directly into MESOS, it is designed to mirror the questions that will appear online, helping organisations prepare their data efficiently.
